Romare – LP Projections

Romare is a great British talent, gracing the electronic world and crossing multiple genres. He first caught our attention with, The Blues (it began in Africa). An epic track on the dance floor. Starting lightly with an unassuming flute, which drops into a heavy tribal African beat. Your body instinctively moves! LOVE.

His latest release, Prison Blues, is aptly named. Combining an infectious progressive beat with high hat and trumpet samples. Romare’s samples are creative and well put together. His tracks are thought provoking, moving the mind as much the feet.

Prison Blues and Roots both feature on the new album, Projections, released 23rd February on Ninja Tune. The album is named after an exhibition Romare Bearden put on in 1964 where he first showcased his photomontages. Everything Romare does exudes meaning and passion.

We saw Romare at Corsica Studios in London back in October for Trouble Vision and he killed it. He really played for the crowd and it made him happy that we were having such a good time. Refreshingly modest. If you haven’t already, definitely check him out!
